Only later did other members follow the trend, and the materials and designs became simpler.

With the long history of Freemasonry, there have been many controversies regarding the wearing of Masonic jewelry. ★ If you are a new member, the symbol points should be facing towards you. This represents your recognition of and commitment to tradition.

★ As a senior member, you can have the symbol points facing away from yourself. This expresses your identification with the organization and also with yourself.
